New yoga retreat this summer at the ghee
During the typical ski resort vacation your focus is often on the external - finding the perfect powder stash or the most technical (or easiest!) mountain bike descent. In addition to offering outdoor adventure , the resort environment is the perfect setting to seek renewal and relaxation by indulging in a centuries-old, internally-focused practice: Yoga.
With the magnificent Teton Range as your backdrop, our three day Yoga Retreat has been designed by the staff of Yoga Tejas to both introduce newcomers to the practice of yoga and to deepen and advance the practices of committed yogis.Regardless of shape, size age, or level of fitness, everyone can participate in yoga at a level that is appropriate for them, and everyone can benefit. In this retreat, we will work with new yoga students to introduce them to the centuries-old “asanas” (a Sanskrit word meaning “poses”) that help you to increase flexibility, build strength, and improve coordination and balance.
We will work with more advanced practitioners to take their practices to the next level through more challenging poses and breathwork. Regardless of your level of practice, you’ll be focusing on connection – connection to your breath, connection to your body, and connection to something larger than yourself. Our setting in Grand Targhee Resort gives us plenty of opportunities to pause and become more aware of our relationships with others and with the natural world.
This three day / three night event will include a welcome reception and 5 total 2 hour yoga sessions over the course of three days. To begin, you’ll be led through a sequence of warm-up poses and basic “standing poses” – over the course of the retreat you’ll learn their names and basic forms. Then we will progress to more challenging poses that will encourage you to overcome your fears and limitations while building strength and endurance. Each practice will have a different theme that encourages reflection and self-awareness both during the practices and afterwards. We’ll place a lot of attention on the breath – using it to deepen your poses and relax the mind. You can expect a strong focus on alignment as well, as good alignment helps to prevent injury while also improving the flow of breath and energy in the body. Regular feedback and a lot of individual attention during classes will keep you safe from injury and help you to better understand your own body.
